Someone at the Wings Over Wilcox bird festival told me I could find Vermilion Flycatchers at Whitewater Draw, which was all the inspiration I needed to go check it out. I hoped I might see some, and maybe get a photo or two. But things were really going my way and found this one that let me get within 20 feet or so. Although they generally are moving about fairly quickly, they do sit in one spot long enough to get shots like this. This photo won First Place in the nongame category of the Arizona Game and Fish (AZGFD) 2007 Calendar Contest, and appeared on the calendar page for the month of April.
