At the Page Springs fish hatchery, which is in the Lower Oak Creek Canyon Important Bird Area (IBA), I found a pair of Northern Cardinals. During the winter, the bare branches of the trees make it easier to find and photograph these shy birds. (Surprisingly, a bright red bird is difficult to find in a tree full of green leaves).

Lens used: Canon 600mm lens at 1200mm (using a 2X teleconverter)
Exposure Data:
ISO 400.
1/250 at f/8.
Av exposure mode (Aperture Priority).
Multi-segment metering +1/3 stop.
