A Killdeer watches as the photographer gets on his belly to take this photograph. Normally, Killdeer would stay far away from me on the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge, but on this day a group of them stayed just ahead of me. Perhaps because it was mating season, they had other things on their mind. When birds are this cooperative, it gives the photographer a chance to do things he might not otherwise be able to do. Since they were staying put, I was able to lay down on the ground to get lower, which gives a much nicer blurring effect on the background in this photograph.
