A Ring-Necked Pheasant struts its stuff on the West side of the Tualatin River National Wildlife refuge. The males are especially colorful, and when the sun is low in the sky their chests become irridescent and change color as you watch. Normally, Ring-Necked Pheasants stay hidden in the brush and I'd only see them flying from one side of the road to the other as I approached. But during mating season, they became bolder, and maybe dumber... I found that they weren't so fast to run away, and often when they did, if I stood still long enough they'd "forget" that I was there and they'd come out again, like this one did, as if I wasn't there.
