I knew when I saw these Pied-Billed Grebes lining up that I had a potentially great photograph. The sun was low in the sky, which made for great light, and the parent was amazingly prolific at finding fish for its three youngsters. This young one had just been given a fish, but was already begging for more. This photo won second place in the National Wildlife Refuge Association's 2005 photo contest.
