Young Great Horned Owls in their nest above the entrance to the Verde Valley Medical Center in Cottonwood, Arizona. The Great Horned Owl chicks in this image are known in Cottonwood, Arizona as the “hospital owls.” For several years, owls have nested in the eaves above the entryway to the hospital. I made this image of the chicks during the “Birdy Verde” Bird and Nature Festival in April.
